The AYSO VIP (Very Important Players) Program provides a quality soccer experience for players with special needs that make it difficult to successfully participate in the AYSO Core program. Some examples may include: visual impairment, conditions that impair mobility, mental or emotional disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy. These players are Very Important Players in AYSO, and the VIP Program carries our philosophy of Everyone Plays® to new heights – giving everyone a chance to play.
The VIP Program has been structured to integrate our players into AYSO by providing a soccer season, and in some cases, using “buddies” – helpers to assist players who need assistance both on and off the field. Our goals for every participating player are: have fun playing soccer, understand the fundamentals of the game, learn teamwork and fair play, increase positive self-esteem, become more physically fit, meet and be comfortable with new people.
The registration fee includes a uniform - shirt, shorts, and socks. We highly recommend that players wear shin guards if able to, and cleats, regular tennis shoes, or whatever shoes that are appropriate for the player to use for outdoor play. Long hair should be secured out of the face. Players should bring their own soccer ball - size 3 for birth years 2014-2017, size 4 for 2010-2013, size 5 for 2003-2009.
